Junior High Awards

Sandridge held their awards presentation tonight at Roy High. Cheyenne received a certificate for being on the Honor Roll for a year.

He received a certificate for being on the Honor Roll two years, and Certificates of Recognition from the Foreign Language Department and the Social Studies Department.


We are so pleased with their hard work this year!

Kidnapping and Awards

KIDNAPPING!
Connor was initiated this morning at 4:45 AM...he heard me on the phone so he knew what was coming...he has a problem being the center of attention, let alone being humiliated in front of the school. He was up and showered and had set some "booby traps" for his nappers. He put toothpaste on the door knob and light switch and put saran wrap across his door. He also put pillows in his bed to look like him while he hid in the closet!
He was the first one to get napped...everyone else was asleep and in their pajamas...he had a great time waking up everyone else! They all went to breakfast and then back to school. He had to wear the crown all day!

3Rd GRADE AWARDS
After sending everyone off to school...Joran, Maren and I headed up to school for the awards assembly. Boston received 16 gold seals and an academic excellence pin. Seals are awarded in different areas like mastery in math, spelling, reading and passing certain grade level challenges.

After Boston's awards assembly we came home for lunch and a quick nap. We were then off to the school again...this time for Sierra's awards assembly. She received 16 seals and an outstanding student pin. Her seals were in similar areas and the challenges were 5th grade level. Joran was thrilled to be in these pictures ...the assembly was much shorter!

Sierra also received a certificate from the Utah State Board of Education for excellence in the area of mathematics on the IOWA test. Yeah Sierra!

Stay tuned...the day is not over and we have the Junior High Awards in an hour...I'll try to post those when we get home. It's a busy week ...Kindergarten graduation is tomorrow so check back often!

Nathan's Baptism

Next on our Saturday agenda was Nathan's baptism...Connor met Nathan when he changed schools in fifth grade to North Park. They just sort of clicked... Nathan started coming to scouts with Connor and met some of the other boys. As they went into Junior High their activities took them different directions, but they remained friends...one day Connor gave Nathan a Book of Mormon with his testimony in it. Connor hopes that in some small way he has helped to plant a seed with Nathan that grew with other seeds to help him make such a wonderful choice. We love the Johnson Family (that is Nathan's family) and hope to stay friends a long time.

The Best of Especially For Youth

I got tickets for Connor and Cheyenne to attend the Best of EFY this past Saturday. They went with their friends-Calvin and Rachel. It was held at the Ogden Institute and they said it was fun and that the speakers were "hilarious" according to Connor. They laughed all the way home about some of the funny stories that were told. I had to threaten them to get this picture...they wouldn't hold still more than a few seconds...teenagers! ( click on the picture to enlarge)

In case you're not familiar with soccer, Jake (in the neon) is the goalie...that is why he is in a different jersey. Connor is in front on the right side. (click on the picture to enlarge)

Connor's Honor Society

Ok...here's a mother of the year moment. Cheyenne was inducted to the National Junior Honor Society...Connor also got a 4.0 and is already a member from last year. The notice was addressed to the parents of Cheyenne, so we only took Cheyenne. Well, we get there and Connor was supposed to be there too since each year they get their certificate...so here is the pictures of Connor with his certificate for this years National Junior Honor Society...can you tell he's thrilled...he got the certificate the next day at school and it's taken me this long to get him to bring it home from his locker!




I had to threaten him to even take the picture...maybe an X Box (which he bought) isn't so bad after all...

St. George Weekend

Connor had a soccer tournament last weekend in St. George. We were hoping it would be sunny and warm...well, it was mostly sunny and in the mid 50's. Except for the 8pm game...that was chilly. We went prepared with warm weather gear so it wasn't too bad. At least the weather was better than what we were getting back home!
The boys played 3 games (all against SLC teams!) on 3 different fields-Pine View High, Dixie High and Snow Canyon High (this was where Jeff taught seminary all those years ago!) The fields were all turf (pretty hard on the skin-the boys were pretty torn up) and were convex- something they had never experienced before and had to adjust their style to play on.
We stayed at a condo near where we used to live, which was fun. Besides the soccer games, we went shopping at the outlets -a lot of success there :), visited some friends-thanks Keith & Jenny and Delinn, fed the ducks and geese by Grandpa and Grandma Stephens old house,

It was a nice, relaxing weekend...you might wonder where the other children are...Sierra, Boston and Annicha stayed in Delta with Bret and Lisa, who also watched our dog. Thank you! We hear they had a really fun time as well: jumping on the tramp, making cookies, going to the movie, shopping, bike riding, going to the park and riding Dallin's electric scooter.

Connor's Eagle Court of Honor

Thought I would add some pictures from the Eagle Scout Court of Honor. It was a crazy two weeks, but it all came together pretty well...not perfect, but some of that was out of our control. I think Connor liked it and that is what matters the most. We had a really good turnout and Connor was supported by teachers, friends, leaders, family and scouting authorities. It was a crazy day and I was so relieved when the program was over. I fell into bed completely exhausted! I kept saying that my children will never marry...a reception might just kill me off.
